| Don Schimmel Bio |
| Don Schimmel, Photographer Life as a Fine Art Photographer has taken him to the four corners of the globe, and has put him in a variety of interesting situations. This exposure to the world is reflected in the breadth of the vast inventory of images he has captured during his travels. His latest endeavor brought him back home to the American West. Shooting with color and black & white film, Schimmel travels with a variety of equipment ranging from a Linhof Technika 4x5, Mamiya RZ67, Noblex panoramic 6x12 and 6x17, to his work in the field with a Canon EOS 3 for 35mm. Schimmel's work encompasses imagery of stunning panoramic landscapes; abstract nature studies, to the life and world of the working cowboy. These images contiue to be an inspiration whether printed in dramatic color or black & white, sepia-toned prints. I produce the imagery, matted and framed in my 2000 sq. ft. working studio located near the Old Town section of Orange, California. The studio consists of three darkrooms, comprised of Beseler 4x5 enlargers. Film and prints are processed in a Jobo Drum Processor. I am currently printing on Fuji Crystal Archive photo paper. It is possibly the most Archival Photo paper to date. The work space also houses a frame shop with matting and framing equipment. The photographs are framed in authentic Barn Wood. And of course, in this day, no studio would be complete without the computer room and a calfskin couch where I can stop, catch my breath, and move onto that next Great Moment in Time!! "Hi Don, I had the pleasure of meeting you at the Ramona Rodeo last night, and seeing some of your beautiful art work. I was so inspired and in awe of your work. While walking through your booth I had chills and my breath taken away. I used to ride and teach children lessons on a ranch in Ramona; that was my passion! I also wanted to thank you and I plan to save up some money to purchase some of your artwork. I have never seen something so inspiring!" Thank You, Laurel Soblewshi No, "Thank You Laurel" Please Enjoy my Website; and I'll see you Down the Trail!! Sincerely, Don Schimmel |
